# Getting started

import { CardGrid, LinkCard } from '@booleanpress/nimbus/components';

BooleanSMTP can send site email through Amazon SES, Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook, Custom SMTP
or PHP Mail. The details you need depend on the mailer, so check its guide if you have not decided
which one to use.

## Before you begin

Your site needs WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 8.1 or later. Sign in to your WordPress admin and
decide how you want the site to send email. The [mailer guides](/docs/mailers/) explain what to prepare for
each option.

## Follow the setup flow

1. [Install BooleanSMTP](/docs/getting-started/install/). It appears as **BooleanSMTP** in your WordPress
   sidebar.
2. [Set up your first connection](/docs/getting-started/setup-wizard/). Choose a mailer, enter its details,
check the connection if the mailer supports it, then review and apply the setup. On a fresh setup,
Apply turns the connection on and makes it the primary connection.
3. [Send a test email](/docs/getting-started/send-a-test-email/). A successful send means the mailer accepted
the message. Check the recipient's inbox and spam folder to confirm it arrived.

These guides walk through each step:

- [Install](/docs/getting-started/install/) — Install BooleanSMTP from the WordPress plugin directory or upload a zip file.
- [Set up with the wizard](/docs/getting-started/setup-wizard/) — Connect your first mailer through the wizard's five steps, from Start to Review.
- [Send a test email](/docs/getting-started/send-a-test-email/) — Check a test send, then check the recipient inbox.

Already know which provider you'll use? See [Choose a mailer](/docs/mailers/) for what each one needs before
you begin.

Already using another SMTP plugin? See [Migrating to BooleanSMTP](/docs/migrating-to-booleansmtp/) to bring over its
connections and email logs.
